7 is fine but 8 is getting too late. My husband is the same way but I have 2 kids that need to eat earlier on account of school the next day and bedtime is 9PM.
I suggest planning very easy or make ahead meals that will be ready by 7PM during the week. We do a sandwich night, a soup and salad night, a casserole night (can be made ahead of time), pasta night etc.

My husband is the same way....and the kids are starving at 5..when I split it up I wind up in the kitchen for 4 hours....I have tried eating a salad with the kids and when he gets home having a light dinner. I hate trying to sleep on a full stomach....Or, I give the kids a snack and I have dinner ready at 7...if we can hold off waiting for him, he can forego some relaxing and plan to eat at 7.
What would happen if you wanted to take a class at 7? or if it's meet the teacher night at 7:30????Not to mention the sports/homework routines......but you don't have kids, yet or they are still young....

Ask him if he can relax AFTER he eats. Or, eat half your dinner around 5-6 and then have half of it with him between 7 -8. I don't like eating right when I get home either, but I understand that nutritionally this is the better time to do it and I know the kids need to get it done so they can do homework and get to their other activities. I don't think its unreasonable to ask him to wait on the relaxation thing.....(and I'm a guy).

I think thats really sweet that he wants to do that with you....but I understand eating the whole big meal thing...I would just make something for dinner that was light, like chicken ceaser salad with some soup? Something around that area....Or just eat small portions. If asks why your not eating as much just tell him why you don't like to go to bed with a full tummy! It is rather uncomfortable... I don't think that will hurt his feelings because your at least making a concious effort and he'll just love you for that =o)

solid God, lady. You 2 are burned out! have been given any grandparents which could take the offspring off your palms for some days? Do you ever have any days which you're actually not working AND dozing? you pick decompression time mutually, like a holiday, despite that's. you pick one mutually with your toddlers too. this might't be person-friendly for them the two. except he's making six figures or greater valuable that's time for him to get off the night shift. life is MUCHO much less demanding interior the sunlight hours. Then take issues from there, one step at a time.

I would tell him some men like it when you are just up front with them. Perhaps bring some evidence about why you prefer not to eat a big meal late.

Just eat light, that way you wont have to cancel your dinner date or hurt his feelings.

Have a loaded salad, or a baked potato, a bowl of soup... Or fix him a dessert and have that with him.
