I finally swallowed my pride and went to a shrink to get meds for my ADD. (dx in highschool, but never took anything - now 28) She said that she really thought that I was Bipolar and gave me Lamictal. I have been taking it for 2 weeks and it has made me feel CRAZY. I have been crying and sleeping and eating ALOT! I didn't have any of that stuff going on before. I was just a spaz. I had gotten a little depressed over some shitty decisions that I had made (due to the ADD) but not what I would consider Bipolar at all. Can meds make you worse if you don't need them?

Has the Doctor given you any other meds? The key to why she gave them to you is the depression and Add. Lamictal smooths out the depression and hyperactivity. It is also prescribed for seizures like epilepsy. If the Doctor who prescribed this for you is not a reputable psychiatrist, you need to find one and talk to them. It will be worth the money for you. I use Lamictal. One thing to remember with it is that it can make you worse before it makes you better. The drug information that comes with the prescription at Walgreens warns this could be a side effect and to contact your Doctor immediately if it happens.

They most definately can make you feel nuttier. Thats why most people don't stay on them. I have been on atleast 4 of those type of drugs. There are alot of side effects. I now take nothing. Don't stop cold turkey, it will do a job on your moods. Over the course od 1 week lessen the doses until your finally off. Then calll your doc and see if theirs something else. And if the same typeof thing happens, try another drug.

I was quickly diagnosed BP just by taking a 15 question form. After seeking counsel & a second opinion, I was just suffering from anxiety depression due to a lot of stress. If it's making you feel worse go see your doctor or maybe a different doctor.

Get a second opinion. There are doctors that specialize in the treatment of ADD. Lamictal has many uses--my mother takes it for prevention of seizures, and my husband takes it to help him sleep (he takes Adderal XR for ADHD).

Tell you doc right now, and ween yourself off of them. That drug is the wrong drug for you, if its making you feel like that. Meds CAN make you worse if they are the wrong ones....call your doc, RIGHT NOW. This is why so many children they put on antidepressants kill themselves.

The right drug will do wonders for you, dont give up.

I would be anybody's friend, I don't presume to judge people by what they do and what they don't put into their systems. Would I encourage others? Depends on who they were and what drug we're talking about. For example, although it's not for everybody, you only live once and not to have experienced mind alteration with something like mescaline or peyote is too bad, because something like that can show you there is more to existence than the nuts-and-bolts of reproducing, raising kids, and going to work every day. Just one example. Do I do drugs? Not right now, no. Have I ever done drugs? Hahahahahahahahahaha
