Honest question, not poking fun or anything.

Let's pretend that there is no hell. Do you think that you would believe as faithfully as you do now? Why or why not?

Thanks for your answers :)

I rarely think about hell - other than I have been saved from it. My faith is not based on fear, of any kind.
Christ has changed my heart into assurance and peace - and meaning in having life in him.

Then what would mankind have to fear? you have to fear something or you would not be able to enjoy, the things you have done right in this world. I have respect for God my heavenly Father, some call it fear, but it means respect. If you believe there is a heaven, then you must believe there is a hell. Good behavior, bad behavior . This is a hard question , for me that is , it may be easy for others, but for me I will think about this for a while to come. Good Question.

Yes I do. But right now I am out of church so I am not faithfuly serving God right now. The reason I became saved was not cause I wanted a way out of hell, it was cause I wanted something real in my life. I had money at one time, but that didnt solve my problems. The only thing that helped me was getting saved on March 4,1999. Now if I can just find my way back home like the prodigal son.

Makes ya wonder....if they're not believers because of fear of hell, why would they think it's a good idea to try to convert people using the fear of hell? Or perhaps that "you're going to hell" line is not an attempt to convert, but instead a curse of sorts? Not very christian either way =)

There's a saying that goes something like this:

Good is not the enemy of evil; good is the enemy of best

Even without hell, believing is still the best. I know that God only allows the best things to happen (best meaning for me, not necessarily pleasant) and that heaven is better than earth.

Most Christians do no practice their faith because they fear punishment or want the reward of heaven. The practice their faith because they love God. Scaring the hell our of someone will never make a totally life changing experience. Neither will following the rules of a set denomination get you into heaven. All one has to do to enter heaven is believe Jesus was the son of God and He died for your sins.

I'm not a christian but I was one at one time and I didn't serve the lord because I was afraid of hell I served him because I had this deep love for him. To this day I still have that same love for him I just don't serve him any longer but I'm still not afraid of hell.

Yes, I would still be as faithful! Reason being the peace and joy that comes with a real relationship with Christ is beyond words. Even in the darkest days there is a quiet contentment that sees me through.

Hell has little to do with my faith.I just don't want to be in the total absence of God.My life has been filled with times when God has sheltered, saved and chastised me.Still there are times when I have doubts,it is the oddest thing.

Your question is like saying:

Question for people use travel by train. Imagine there are no railway stations, would you still travel by train.

Hell is part and parcel of the deal.

If the universe had different spiritual laws then I might still beleive - I don't beleive in God because I beleive in hell; but I beleive in hell because that's part of what God taught in the Bible.
