Lice are becoming resistant to a lot of OTC shampoos out there. Coat her head with olive oil and have her sleep with a shower cap on. The oil will smother the lice. The next morning use a fine comb and make sure to get all the nits. You'll have to wash her hair a few times to get all the oil out, but it's a lot gentler than the shampoo. Make sure to wash all her bedding in hot water, and bag any stuffed animals that are in her bed for 2 weeks in an air tight plastic bag. Do not let her share towels, combs, or hairbrushes with other family members. Vacuum all rugs and furniture, then throw the bag away.

Try coating her scalp with mayo and wash it out, Rid x but you should take her to the doctor for some medicated shampoo. Bleach out her bedding or get new if you can but the most important thing is to get that nit comb and comb comb comb wash the hair and comb some more. The real problem is the tiny eggs left attached to the hair you get rid of the lice and the eggs hatch and you got more lice that lay more eggs, you get rid of the lice but the eggs...... so you must be certain to comb hem all out it only takes a few left behind to start the problem all over again. Good luck

My step daughters had the same problem. I fought what seemed an endless battle with them for over a year. The problem was I would clean there hair and they would go to there mothers and get exposed to it again. I finally had to cut the baby's hair in a short little bob cut. It was cute, but I hated to cut there hair off. :-( Anyways, try to find out where they are getting it from school, friends, etc....And you will have to stop them from getting around it somehow. I just used rid from Wal-Mart. And after I cut there hair it was a little easier to get it all out. We just combed there little heads every night trying to get all of the nits out. Because if you don't then the nits will hatch and you will have hole new batch of lice. Also you have to clean everything!!! That is probably the most important in fighting with lice. Wash all bed clothes, vacuum all carpets, couch, bed etc. Spray your car seats with Rid, and vacuum your vehicle very well. And then everytime they get a new case you will have to do it all over. But once I got there heads completely clean, I spent the next day cleaning the whole house and car, and they never had trouble out of it again. I also noticed the next week that there mother had cut her own hair very short, so I suppose that she was tired of her own head being eat up with it.....Good Luck! I know it is a lot of work, but this is what I found to help me.

Did you take her to the doctor? Our whole class got it one time, and I had to use this green shampoo, that smelled like manure, I believe it was prescribed from the doctor. And are you sure it's lice or does she have a dry scalp? Well, heres a link I found for a home remedy http://www.articledashboard.com/Article/Home-Remedies-For-Lice/35222

I just did a yahoo search, Home remedies for lice...theres more so check it out. Good luck!

Smear her head in vasaline cover it as thick as you can . put a shower cap over it and leave it all on for 24 hours. It does work. Some say to use cooking oil, but I think the vasaline works better. It smothers the funky little critters. You might have to repeat it in 7 days if new eggs hatch. good luck

do you have cloth seats in your car?
have you washed all the bedding including the bed?
taken all the clothes in the house to the laundromat?
bagged and tied up all the stuffed animals?
get the couch professionally cleaned?
all at once!?!?

here's a hint:
louse like clean places. you must have a clean house. it's just not bug-free.

you might need to get your house professionally de-bugged. (pest control)

my sister is a hairstylist and says that if you coat her hair with olive oil for 3 days (keep it coated and home from school if need be) they will die off (suffocate), but you need to do all the above things too.

Coat her hair and scalp in mayo and put a shower cap over it. Leave it on overnight. Then rinse in hot water, shampoo, and rinse again. Use a nit comb after that to remove anything that is left.

tea tree oil works every time also straighten hair with irons that heat up to about 200 230 this kills any stray eggs that slip down the hair shaft.repeat process seven days later.to help avoid her getting them again tie her hair up and cake it with hair mousse, lacquer or condition it helps to prevent them sticking and getting through to the scalp.
