my shampoos and conditioners and moisturisers etc are in big heavy cumbersome bottles. i have transferred them into little plain travel sized bottles. if these are packed in my check-in luggage (not carry on) then is this ok, the point being that they are not in their original packaging. i have always done this without a problem, i just can't imagine having to pack the originals, they take up so much room!

You will have to get the small trial size to take in your carry on. Do not open them and you'll be OK. If what you use do not come in these small bottles, you are out of luck. They will be confiscated at the check-in point.

It doesn't matter about packaging... You can do what you want with liquids as long as they are in your checked in baggage. Don't bring them on the plane. If you're travelling through london, you won't even be able to bring lipstick on the plane. Your carry on baggage size is severely limited as well (one item) and it has to fit in a box the size of a laptop case... so a purse is fine if it is squishy and can be compressed to fit in their little sizing boxes.

A friend of my in-laws is an airline pilot permitted to carry a gun. He can bring his 9mm Glock on board, but he has to leave his bottle of evian behind...

I would recommend pouring the shampoo and conditioner on your head before boarding. Then at your destination, you could "just add water".

You will need to plan shorter trips though, and try to avoid countries with bees and other insects that would be attracted to your fragrant hair. You are welcome.
