Does time exist independent of our experience of reality, or is it merely a feature of our internal experiences?

Time exists independently. Otherwise, no time would pass when we're unconscious, or after our bodies die.

Our "internal experiences" merely interpret time in relation to how it affects us.

Space-time exists independently of us. Our internal experience of time is quite subjective.

There is no compelling reason to think that time 'exists' apart from (independent of) consciousness.

"Time is nature's way of keeping everything from happening at once." ~ Unknown

"I have seen the future, and it is very much like the present... only longer."

"Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a bananna." ~ Groucho Marx

"The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to get caught up." ~ Keith Pawluck

That last quote is my favorite. It is fascinating, because it operates on two different levels. Look at it one way, and it is patently ridiculous. Look at it another way, and it actually makes sense, in an oddly disturbing sort of way.

Surely the whole point of these sort of philosophical questions is that they are rhetorical and without an answer.

P.S. All those being so confident that we pass through time rather than time being subjectively created could do with reading more quantum physics.

Since time seems to proceed independently of our wishes or our perception of it, I would say that it's independent of our experience of reality.

Interesting question.

I imagine that as long as there is motion in the cosmos, "time" exists, but if everything was ina state of stasis, then it wouldn't.

That's my story an' I'm stickin' to it... unless a better theory comes along. :)

Did any one you know die? Did time stop? Time is independent of us and our 'reality'.

Experiences happen within a time period. Time is just a reference point as to when things occur for us to plan or remember things that happen within our lives.

Without time, nothing exists. Without existence, time is irrelevant.
