King Darius and King Xerxes were powerful Persian kings were they not? they fought with the ancient Greeks. Darius was a believer in the monotheistic religion Zoroaster and he allowed Jews to build temple of Jerusalem....practised religious tolerance and wouldn't have slaves, which really unusual for those days.....King Xerxes was his son but not so great and apparently refused the practice of other religions.

You have them backwards, Xerxes (Artaxerxes) should be last. They were the first three kings of the Medo-Persian empire that supplanted the Babylonian empire. The 2300 day prophecy began with the order be Artaxerxes to rebuild Jerusalem. It ended with the capture of the pope in 1798.
