You may or may not need another surgery- it depends on what is causing your pain currently.
I am a chiropractor & I work with a lot of MDs in my area- spinal surgeons send me a lot of the non surgical and in fact many post surgical patients that continue to have back pain.
A hemi-laminectomy should be safe to be adjusted by a chiropractor (I obviously don't know other health history, and haven't examined you)--- and there are many different techniques out there, so if one chiropractor isn't quite it, another might be perfect (just like the dentist).
You may also want to investigate acupuncture for your back pain- a great tool for pain relief.
As I said, I have not examined you or looked at any Xrays or other imaging to know if you are or are not a candidate for future surgery now or 10 or 20 yrs from now, but unfortunately, once a surgical patient- you will probably never be "perfect" and most likely have some degree of pain or loss of mobility... the key is to decrease it & make your life as good as possible & decrease the likelihood of future surgery with stretching & proper exercise as well.
good luck

I would get thoroughly evaluated and see if you can get better without surgery. I had surgery and it made my back pain much worse. My neurologist warned me off of another surgery, saying that the resulting scar tissue often creates more problems and pain. Pain management specialists may be the way to go.

Two of my patients have got spinal surgery in India. One was treated for spondylolistheis by spinal fusion and the other for disc replacement. Both of them are very happy with the results.Their pain and other symptoms due to nerve compression have totally gone.
Spinal Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges spine surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as spine surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website.
The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your friends spine surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.both my patients had gone to India through the forerunners healthcare company.i strongly recommend you to talk to this company, checkout your options with surgery from them.
