I need to lower my triglycerites and raise my HDL cholesterol level...the list of do's and dont's seems to be endless. Shopping for key foods is confusing as everything seems to have some sort of additive....I just want something simple to follow without having to measure everything I eat or drink.

I highly recommend the Paleo Diet.

The human race evolved on this healthy diet, but 5000 years ago we started agriculture and that changed our diets for the worse.
Now only 200 - 300 generations later, we are biologically almost unchanged, yet we continue to eat dairy products and wheat.

It's no wonder that average life expectancy was lower in 1900 than 5000 years before. The only reason we live longer now is because of medical advances.

Give the Paleo Diet a chance, you lose nothing by trying.

This years best diet plans can be found at DIETPLANSCIENCE.COM cost free. Does the word "diet and weight loss" immediately make you think of an unpleasant weight-loss regimen? If it did, you are probably not alone. For example, consider the use of the term "diet" in marketing food products—it usually describes foods low in calories, such as diet soda. But there is another meaning of this word. Diet can also refer to the food and drink a person consumes daily and the mental and physical circumstances connected to eating. The Merriam Webster Online Dictionary gives two definitions of nutrition: "the sum of the processes by which an animal or plant takes in and utilizes food" "the act or process of nourishing or being nourished" While both are correct, the second definition is more inclusive and suggests that food involves many different things, including love, satisfaction, and enjoyment. Nutrition involves more than simply eating a “good” diet—it is about nourishment on every level. It involves relationships with family, friends, nature (the environment), our bodies, our community, and the world. Choices about nourishment are very much linked to other human beings and other life forms on this planet, so healthy (and unhealthy) decisions have great impact.

POSSIBLE.....

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

1. Start moving. One of the most effective weight loss strategies around is exercise. 2. eat lots of veggies and fruits, have some protein, but not a ton, and stay away from stuff with sugar. 3. Eat small, healthy meals and snacks several times a day. 4. Team up. Get together with a friend who has much the same goals as you. 5. Think health. Don't try to lose weight. Instead, try to get healthy. 6. Get rest. When your body is tired. 7. Drink water. 8.
