It makes an intriguing theory although I have never heard of a cat intern. Is that a new veterinarian doctorate thing?

I think it shows how a lot of religions have incorporated things into their services and traditions. That's what this is with the cat, a tradition. It loses all value when you lose the meaning of why you did it in the first place. It's a good story to show that not all things that you do in a religion have a true holy basis. Therefore you should not put so much value on them and should learn as much as you possibly can about your religion. And why you should not hate others for doing different things in their worship than you do, because it's not important in the long run.

No, that is merely a tradition.
It is impossible to get "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as you love yourself" from a concept akin to tying a cat to an altar, or somesuch.
