My first question would be, is this person on meds for it? If not I suggest that they get on some. It is a very serious mental problem. If left untreated I would say they would try again. This is just my opinion.

I have a nephew that has schisophrenia and bipolar. There's a fancy name for it but I can't remember. One more peice of advice, I would suggest the person get couseling as well. Mental problems are extremely hard to deal with.

it all depends on the person and if they are willing or even want to get better. schizophrenia can be somewhat controlled by medication. i have 2 very close people in my life that have schizophrenia and one has tried to take his life but since then has gotten help, been on meds and you would never even know he had a mental illness. but this is because he wants to be better and life a fulfilled life. the other person i know has not ever tried to take his life and would never. hes not even on medication - he just deals with it. so like i said i think it all depends on the individual, how strong they are and how severe their illness is.

It does happen.

Medication, medication, medication.

My daughter is doing wonderful, after almost 10 years of problems.
Didn't know what it was until 2004.
She has a wonderful job, self supporting and very happy.

with the right medication and therapy future suicide attempts can be stopped. Support from family and friends is also a great help to help people with suicidal thoughts.
