Which brand do you prefer for running/cross training? For adults/children? I used to be a diehard Nike fan, but now I find I really like the Asics gel I recently bought. Also, do you find that you take a slightly larger size running shoe than regular shoe?

You need to choose the shoe that fits your foot and your purpose the best.
I am unable to wear most running shoes on the market because they aren't wide enough and the manufacturer puts those stupid toes on the runners that you can kick the eyes out of snakes with.
You generally take 1/2 size larger in sneakers than regular shoes.

I use Asics for the gym and running and New Balance for all other everyday activities that I want sneakers for. Another fashionable sneaker I've found is by the Italian brand Lotto.

Well, I would definately recommend New Balance! They are extremely comfortable and last a long time. (even after the recommended miles you put on them)
