It would be because she is letting the other girl know that the man is hers so dont try anything, she is doing so with out really realizing that she is doing it.. its like marking and protecting your territory

The girl is kinda marking her territory. She telling the other girl, "He's mine so don't even think about it". Very similar to male dogs peeing on everything. It's all about marking what is yours.

it might just be that the girl is insecure about herself and wants the guy to know she doesn't want him to look anywhere else... plus it shows the other girl ha ha i have this guy look somewhere else cause he is taken.... its real stupid and kinda fake but it works in a sad way...
