the question's pretty straightforward.

a link to a schematic, or a VERY DETAILED description (i took electronic shop, twenty years ago; this is the general scope of my expertise), would be nice.

alternately, are there reusable flash units in the ten dollar range (this seems unlikely, but, what with digital overtaking the field, who knows?)?

When they first came out we'd pop them out and attach a battery just to play with them. I can't think of a serious use they could be put to though. Just open it up. No real expertise is needed.

I suppose, if you could take the disposable camera apart and find the flash triggering component you could turn it into a slave flash unit by hooking a light sensor up to it. It might take some experimentation to see if the sensor is going to trigger the flash, when you take a picture with a camera with film in it.

I use to have a big SunPak flash gun with a big battery pack that I carried over my shoulder, and one of the things I had for flash was a sensor that got plugged into it so that it could be mounted on a tripod and used as a slave flash. It would pick up another flash up to 50 feet away.

The part you're going to be looking for you might be able to find at radio shack.
