Yes, most of the Muslims here in Turkey celebrate Christmas like the Christians. Becoz Turkish ppl are always looking for reasons to have fun. The other reason should be wishing stronger adaptation with the Christians especially with the European. I m Muslim and I celebrate the Christmas too, but only as a new year and without alcohol at home.

Muslims don't celebrate Christmas just some people you know do.

Many accept the prophet's birth just as Muslims respect other prophets' births and deaths.

Ramadhan however is completely different as it is an essential pillar, 1 of 5, in the faith.

I think you should go learn the basics of Islam you might be suprised at what you learn.

Christmas is not just a Christian religious holiday.

While its origins are based around the birth of Christ, over time, the true meaning and values of Chirstmas have changed.

I respect the right of Christians to celebrate Christmas under religious ideals, but as an aetheist, I celebrate my Christmas as an opportunity to celebrate life; goodwill towards family, friends and strangers; to give to others.

For whatever reasons a person celebrates Christmas, as long as they bring joy to a child's face and have fun, then what does it matter?

But hey.... thats just my opinion!

Cheers ;)

My name sounds a little Jewish

I once had a Jewish boss and he asked

Are you Jewish?

I, like a fool, said no.

He said:

To bad. Friday is Rosh Hashanna I guess I'm the only one here who gets it off!

He also took off Christmas!

Arabs and Jews share something in common!

They get the best deals they can get through playing with your mind!

Now, a friend of mind when to work for the Japanese in America and they sent out a Japanese guy to supervise and the FIRST thing he did was look at the AMERICAN caldendar and he designated all the American Holidays to be PAID holidays!

Valentines Day
St. Patrics Day
Ground Hog Day
etc. etc. etc.

Next year another Japanese guy with more savvy come out and dropped them to 8 total Paid Holidays, including the Emperors Birthday and Hiroshima day!

So what? No-one is compelled to observe the religious holidays of others. If they want to celebrate Christmas, good on them. I'll bet you don't acknowledge Hanukkah either.

It's a Jewish holiday.
Maybe your friends are trying to embrace a different culture? I know if I lived in a Muslim country I would respect their holidays even if I didn't believe in them.
I also don't believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy but sometimes it might be best to go along with things... if I ever have children I want them to believe in those things, so does that make me a hypocrite?

Muslims who celebrate the christmas don't celebrate as religious event but they only celebrate the new year and take it as an advantage to make their children happy in that time.

Personally I don't do this and I don't agree with it because we have our own feasts "Eid" and celebrations.

Well
Islam Has Rules
if someone did not Follow it
doesn't mean Islam is what that person doing

You Judge Religion by what it saying, not by what someone is doing

its a way of expressing the gratitude and appreciation for their christian freinds -- may be. sometimes giving someone a smile is also a good deed. so may be they are trying to put a smile on other people's face.

and i do participate in the fests of my christian, jewish and hindu freinds -- i dont celebrate but i do go for their little hen parties on their fests.

You'd celebrate ramadan if people started giving you gifts.
