Be careful with that great circle navigation if you are using a boat. Prevailing currents may make the trip take longer if you get caught up fighting the currents, or if sailing, getting caught up in the doldrums.

If you are using a boat, refer to a chart, or hopefully someone here will provide that information.

Wind currents will also affect a plane flight.
