I am using XP PRO that is working fine but I want to try Linux. I have 80 GB hard disc with three partitions. One partition I have kept aside for Linux. Is it possible to use Linux with XP Pro as duel operating system? Which version of Linux I should use. I have formatted my hard disc in NTFS Format. I am awaiting experts Opinion please. Thanks

You can use Ubuntu 6.06 or Fedora Core 5 or Red Hat Linux or any other distributions for dual booting .

You need to delete your partitions and then boot from boot CD/DVD of any of these Linux distributions

You can not install Linux on a NTFS partitioned disk. If the partistion set aside for linux is also NTFS and has data, you are better off moving that data and allowing Linux format it again during install.
As for which version, choices are numerous. Ubuntu can even run off CD! Redhat is good for me.

You can set the machine up as dual boot when you install Linux. Debian linux is good, but any of them will do the job. The Install process will sort out where on disk Linux will live.

choose ubuntu linux. and install it on another partition
