Don;t understand it, but I have a Sony TV, and when I plug in my Sont DVD Player to it using the a/v cables, (yellow, red &white), it makes an awful buzzing noise, usually moreso depending on whats on the TV screen. It will only sound ok if I leave one of the cables unplugged.

Does anyone know how to fix this annoying problem?

All cables are connected appropriately, I'm not stupid enough to not know that I have to match the colors

the noise is usually because of bad earthing !

Whatever you are plugging it into, make sure you get another piece of cable and securely connect the ground ( metal chassis ) of that equipment to your telly.

Try a different , better quality interconnects

Also plugging the video, into audio jacks, usually creates the same problem

You have definitely got the plugs in the wrong sockets , the buzz is video information going into the audio amplifier. Check both ends of the cable and make sure that the yellow plug is plugged into a yellow socket at each end, The red and white are the stereo sound left and right channels.

Your problem is not all that uncommon and can usually be corrected using one of the following method. Replace your cables with higher quality audio/video cables. Do not use cables with all 3 cables bundled together (it's OK to have the audio cables together, but use a separate video cable. The cables should have both an internal foil insulator and gold plated jacks and should be 75 ohm for best results. I use cables by Acoustic Research and have had excellent results. Keep your cables as short as possible. Extra cable acts like an antenna and will pick up all sorts of unwanted background noise.

You have one of the plugs in the wrong jack. Check the one you have to unhook to stop the buzzing.
