It is because if the TDS (Total Desolved Solids) in water that cuases to be seen in ice cube once it is frozen.

You may not be able to get bigger cubes that are clear but you can get some sort of clarity if you were to reduce the size of the cube, try freezing thinner layers of drinking water and that also not a long time in the freezer, notice the ice coming from the fountain fresh soft drink disbursement machine at Burger King or any other such joint, the ice is clearer.

I think it is nigh on impossible to get small ice cubes to be clear. The ice they use in ice sculptures is clear because during the freezing process, the water is agitated, and this causes the molecules to whizz around really fast forcing all the impurities into the centre of the cube where they are drained away.

To remove chemicals and particles from water, the water needs to be filtered or purified. Not all bottled water is, if your buying it.

I think you have to put the boiled water in the freezer when it's just been boiled. It's not really advisable but I think it woirks that way.

my water softener sales man says the white is caused by particles. I also heard it is caused by freezing to fast. Try to slowly freeze filtered water.
