We buggered it up and now we are trying to fix it. Bit like trying to fix an airfix kit with a sledge hammer really.
I always thought when you were in a hole it was best to stop digging....

They have done too much damage in the past and that is why Africa is not self-supporting anymore. To a certain extent the process is irreversible. Only with the necessary aid from the West, but from humanitarian perspective and no political goals on the side, it can be possible to help out small farmers and to create numerous small projects. The key problems are famine, wars and corrupt governments, helped by the same West. Also the different clans and tribes who take the food and leave the people to starve to death. The aids problem is still there with medication kept too expensive by Pfizer f.e. The list is so long and gets longer and longer. The West should start by acknowledging that breaking down Africa will have a devastating effect on the rest of the world, look at the wide-spread immigration problems Spain, Morocco and Italy face with thousands of deaths every year.

A problem of guilty consciences? As others have said, former colonial powers have helped get Africa in a state, and now it seems to me there is a potentially unresolvable struggle between interfering further in an attempt to ameliorate problems, or leaving them to sort out their own problems even if they weren't self-inflicted, taking the position that independence should mean independence.
Of course, there's always the nefarious possibility that they're still trying to use Africa for whatever they can get, and also the consideration that some African nations request help.
It's a question I think about a lot, and not one I've personally been able to find a satisfactory answer for.

And when the countries in Africa where run under European rule there was no famine, Genocide or dictators. Since those countries have pulled out the old tribal problems have resurfaced and they all want to kill each other.
And if the West has done nothing but buried them in further problems then go and have a chat to Bob Geldof. The guy raised Millions for the Famine in Ethiopia.
Why cant people like you stop trying to find some one to blame for the problem and find a way to fix it.

the west will leave africa alone when africa stops asking for help. We want the whole world to see how self-sufficient we are but then we go and make war and our governments are riddled with corruption.
qwerty best you read up on your history son! The colonialists raped africa, took all the natural resources. Mined the land, took all the gold and diamonds and resources they could lay their grubby paws on. Who do you think mined all these things? I'll tell you who... the africans. who died doing it. What about the slave trade? mmmm... what about the millions upon millions of africans who died while being transported squashed and tied together in the hulls of colonial ships! Flippin arrogant argument yours.

i think of it relatively is an absurd concept. the kind of return and forth he's making plans to do would take somebody journey months to end with significant stepped forward making plans. Africa isn't familiar for it ease of return and forth. it is likewise no longer familiar for its accessibility. the variety of holiday does no longer enable him to get to be attentive to any area of Africa. If he's prepared on vacationing Africa, he would desire to %. his well-known united states of america, lease an house - and stay for a month or 2. he will extremely get to be attentive to the rustic and make existence-long acquaintances. in the adventure that your persons are in Morocco advise there. I visited there myself and it will continually be certainly one of my maximum impressive recommendations.

You're absolutely right. The west should stop all help to Africa and let it take care of its own problems. They made it they should fix it.
