Well, Asher, photosynthesis is the same whether it occurs on land, in the water, or in the International Space Station.

The plant cell starts with water+CO2 and in the presence of light and chlorophyll produces oxygen and glucose (C6H12O6). If light or chlorophyll is absent the reaction does not occur so if you're so deep in the water that light doesn't penetrate there is no photosynthesis.
