first of all to know the pro's and con's on whatever the SA has in mind to develope. then a feasibility study is a way of supporting your ideas and when time to present it, it be declared as feasible and people would have interest on your work. And lastly it is where you will decide wether to continue it or not after you conduct your feasibility depends on the cost and maintenance afterwards.

At the end of hte day the proposed software/DBMS has to fit the business case. The feasibility study is an effort to determine whether this can be done 1) at all 2) withing necessary contstraints which are usually a. amount of work to be done b. Required time frame and c. the big one - cost.
