Using an electron microscope is like trying to use an astronomer's telescope to watch football from the stands!! Electron microscopes can focus to cellular level, but lower magnification is possible. However, this will give a 3D type of image that won't really show you the stem structure well (see second link). To examine a dicot stem you'd be better off cutting a section and looking at it with a relatively low magnification, say 10 to 20 X, not the 1000X that is posible with EM.
