I'm wondering why this category draws so many people who seem to hate religion and spirituality. It wouldn't be so disgusting if an atheist wanted to have a real discussion,(that only happens on rare occasions. ) but what I read are endless rude comments. It seems that you guys have a little contest, trying to be the most annoying, obnoxious, crude and insulting to people who are seeking religion and spirituality. Differences can exist in the same enviornment when there is respect on each side.

I am not looking for a world where everyone believes as I do. I do wish for a world with tolerance and kindness. How can we ever hope for world peace when we don't have it in our own families or in internet discussions?

Don't say you didn't know this is a category for "just religious people." Of course, you have every right to be here. If it's to have a philosophical discussion, good for you. If it's to make slurs on other people...there are LOTS of categories. Go forth and rant!

I am not angry. Just curious why *they* seem so angry?

to Mooch...sorry, you are right, from the way my question sounds. I do not handle intolerance well from either atheists or Christians, or any other religions. I saw that I had "honed" in on atheists, but ran out of space. And my question originated because of wondering why angry people who are not spiritual and religious come here, if they hate those of us who are. :) When I get that answer, then I guess I'll ask another question and try to word it better. I actually think that intolerant Christians are much more upsetting to me, than non-believers. Didn't mean to insult you or anyone else.

Mooch...thank you SO much. You give me a whole new attitude about hoping to have some good exchange of ideas from people who have differences. Thumbs up to you, too.

This section seems to draw a lot of people that are either angry, immature or just plain hateful. A lot of them don't have any real input to this subject. It's just easy for them to bash. I try not to pay attention to those that are just trying to entertain themselves with childish actions. I'm just sorry they didn't have parents that could teach them how to treat others. God Bless You.

How can you talk about tolerance and kindness in one breath and slate *only* atheists in the next?

Haven't you seen the way some of the religious types behave?

How can you appeal for mutual respect when you demonstrate only one-sided criticism?

EDIT:

It's hard to imagine how you could possibly say any fairer than that. And in light of the explanation you offer, consider the comments I made above retracted.

Have a thumbs up (and no small measure of respect) for being so cool :o)

good point. No one benefits from these slur tactics and if you truly are an athiest and wish to show the truth in your belief then the glib slur just makes you look unreasonable and unable to think past your anger. Being angry at God really does not make sense. Tell your significant people you need something from them,,,whatever it is like control in your own life or attention if there is no God then He is not the one who hurt you and if you tell christians Muslims whatever that they are hurting you in terms they understand they might either apologize or change.

Maybe people are drawn to this category because they have more questions within than they have answers and are in denial. People do fear anything unknown and fear has a habit of bringing out the worst in us, which makes us mouthy etc.

Pity really as there is a world of wisdom out there from people with personnal experience and maturity that is'nt always bible bashing.

blasphemy should also be considered harassment...sometimes things fall into tother category on the dropdown list.
theyre worried about what they dont understand but if they have No religion and more than 10 strikes against them for reports they should have membership here suspended IMO Why do ppl have so many identities too? Limit of 2 for each computer I say..

You must be new here.

I was actually going to say a few hours ago, the people were really tame, and doing transferring of ideas in a civil way.
But as timw wore on, it regressed to normal.

The athiests need to hear the good news too, before Jesus comes back. This is where they hear it.

For centuries, people have been jailed for making scientific achievements that disprove the bible and you're complaining about people making rude comments on yahoo answers. Beat your bible else where, or get well aimed logic poured all over you.
