You dont have to buy anything ..just run ccleaner..d/load from http://www.ccleaner.com/
& defrag aswell.
There are no miracle shareware cures out there. If the above "fixes" don't do the job, dont think buying a great "cure-all" cleaner/error fixer is going to miraculously speed up your computer noticably better.
Yes there are some little tweaks you can do to helpbut usually the main problem is too many processes/programs running in the background, or one program which is really hogging yor memory.
Either reduce these or get more ram.
PS...I just dont get it when people copy & paste an advert or an article..about 3 books long...Vista will be redundant & replaced by the time anyone has waded through that lot!

If it's a spyware issue then you need to realize that nothing less than 4 anti-spyware running simultaneously will do any good. I have 5 and they ALL detect different spyware. If I didn't use them all, spyware would run amok on my PC (sometimes I feel like it already is).
But, your problem may be with the registry.
Check out the free scan at Registry Mechanic.
http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/
It may give you some insight into the best solution.

Don't be downloading anything, your computer should have the facility to do it anyway, so do the following
click on TOOLS
click on INTERNET OPTIONS
click on DELETE COOKIES, DELETE FILES and CLEAR HISTORY.
once you have done that do the following:
Click on START
ALL PROGRAMS
ACCESSORIES
SYSTEM TOOLS
DISK CLEAN UP
This will bring the files up that can be deleted, check through them to see that you don't want them, then press okay.
The file that builds up the most is usually the Temp Internet Files, do this on a regular basis.
After that try doing a defrag, this will do a system check, and tell you whether or not you need to defrag, so just following the onscreen instructions.
All the best.

www.acelogix.com its $29.95 to buy and you have 30 days to decide if you want to buy it. This is the best program for speeding up and keeping your computer running great. They also have a free program to go with The Ace Utility, called Start up Guard. look to the left in freeware when you go there. You will also have to keep your antivirus and windows updated, I also use Spy-Bot S&D.
As far as memory I recomend no less than 512mb.
There are a lot of good sites to read and learn of settings and tips to improve performance. I saw some mentioned in a prior post. just above mine a few.

No need to buy some utility softwares because they are already available to download from many of the website like www.snapfiles.com . From this download any spyware software and run it. Also there is a software "Advance System Optimizer" , download it and run it, it is a great utility software.

You need spybot search & destroy...free download.
One thing... it has is the facility to find out what programs you have running on your computer in the background,ie..the ones slowing your pc down..and you can look at them and turn them off. Many other programs dont have this facility.
If this dont work, try reformatting your pc.

Defrag (built-in to Windows)
Crap Cleaner
Ad-Aware SE
AVG Anti-virus
Tons of others, but download / run those 4 (all free programs) and I think you'd be pleasantly supprised.

have you used the disk clean, and defrag in windows? If that does not help, you need more memory or a faster CPU. You should have at least a gig of RAM.
