See, he was sitting on this wall, but it was a stone wall. It wasn't a brick built one. There were bits of moss on it and such like, not to mention some rather crumbly bits of stone right where he was sitting. He wiggled a bit to get more comfortable and then an random crow just dive-bombed him (I think it had young crows nearby and was a bit skittish) and Humpty wobbled and flailed his arms around like a windmill, but to no avail.
He fell. And it was a great fall.

It was a GREAT fall as in a BIG fall. Not great as in good. Like having a great score or a great win. The nonsense of nursurt rhymes. We usually associate GREAT with the good things that happen but its not always the case. If someone had a GREAT loss you would know that it was a huge loss. Take great to mean huge.

I have heard that it was a conspiracy. See the kings horses and kings men could have put him back together again, but they were hungry since the king was being mean, and not feeding them. So they pretended to call for a doctor, when in reality they called for a skillet. It was a pretty big one too. Oh and he didn't fall off the wall. He got down and was struck by a starving "kings men".
