Internet protocol address (web address)

An ip address is not unique over time (when they are not in use, they can and often are reassigned) and doesn't have any special connection to an email address. It is simply an identification for a single computer, during the specific period of time it is connected to a network.

There is not necessarily a unique number for every email address. For instance, if you have a modem, every time you dial up to connect, you may (or may not) get a different IP address, but your email address does not change. Or if you have more than one email account, they are all going to "belong" to your ip address while you are connected. And next time you connect, you may have a different one. If you have more than one computer, they will also have an ip address each. If you use a webmail service such as yahoo's, the originating address will be whichever of their servers you are connected to, not your own computer.

At best you can find out what the ip address for the computer the person sent the mail from (which may not be their own) during the time the mail was sent (and they may have disconnected and reconnected since then, or sent it from the library or at work etc.) In practise, finding the ip address out of an email, is not of any practical use, and easily hidden when sending. You probably need to ask another question with what you really want to know (that is, what you think finding the ip address will tell you.)

An IP address is the INTERNET PROTOCOL address. that is, every computer on a network is identified with a unique numeric address called the IP address. If you want to locate a computer that has sent you the mail, you will have to mail your service provider as well as your mail service (e.g. Yahoo!). Mail the service the details of the mail, the mailer's address and the reason of IP address retrieval.

An identifier for a computer or device on a TCP/IP network. Networks using the TCP/IP (TRANSMISSSION CONTROL PROTOCOL/INTERNET PROTOCOL)protocol route messages based on the IP address of the destination. The format of an IP address is a 32-bit numeric address written as four numbers separated by periods. Each number can be zero to 255. For example, 1.160.10.240 could be an IP address.

Within an isolated network, you can assign IP addresses at random as long as each one is unique. However, connecting a private network to the Internet requires using registered IP addresses (called Internet addresses) to avoid duplicates.

Right click on the person's name that sent you the email and go right to the bottom chose the last one and right click that one. Write down the IP number. Go on to that website and then put in the thingy and then you have it.

Ok!
