You don't say if u are a US citizen. Makes a difference if u have to pay, say for instance, British withholdings on your paycheck. As a US worker I would approximate 68/12 less 20% and be glad if that was a high deduction but a "real" number to work with.

As a general guideline, 68k put you in the 25% tax bracket for federal income tax. 6.2% for social security tax, 1.45% for Medicare tax and whatever local and state income tax.
I don't have the tax information for Chicago IL so I can only do a rough calculation for the federal portion. You are looking at roughly $4000 minus local and state tax as a single person.
If you have a spouse or dependent children - each dependent allows $3200 deduction before you have to start paying federal tax. Also qualify you to file as either head of household or married person and better tax rate. You can roughly add $300 per person to each month's pay check.
Remember all these are very rough estimation.

first of all you have to know what exemptions you are claiming for instance are you single ot married and then how many dependents you are claiming then you go to paycheck city.com and it will allow you to get a calculation of you net salary

You'll gross about $5,600 per month. Minus taxes (depending on how many dependents you declare, deductions, etc.), it might be about $4,000-4,500.
