I just turned 40 and will be graduating college in Dec. I'm concerned that the younger ones will get the call first.

an older person is more likely to be a better worker.. less likely to call off or come in with hang overs and more likely to take the job more seriously.

Yep, well I'm still young but I do find with the hassles of work and stress of life, its more and more difficult to get back to studying. And its a worry as you see the better and more lucrative jobs pass you by due to lack of the qualifications. but at least you got there, you're graduating. That's encouraging for the rest of us. Probably for your kids too, though they might fancy a shot at beating you to the big jobs.

As long as you understand the salary ranges of the job you're trying for, it shouldn't matter. You can't ask for more money just because your older. Also, it's technically illegal for employers to ask your age in interviews. I guess age discriminations or something like that.
