Because Jesus was a man and God.

That is, being in the flesh, and knowing that he would die, he had a moment of doubting God.

God doubting God equals the most brilliant revolution the world ever heard of.

In order for God to save man, God had to become man and know from the inside what it was like to be man. One thing that men experience is doubt in God. God, being God, never had this experience. Having had this experience in the flesh, he was able to have mercy for those who doubted him--since he was there himself. He understood from the inside.

God could not look on sin and Jesus took on the sins of the whole world. For the time He was on the cross, Jesus couldn't feel Gods presence.

in a very simple explanation (maybe in a way we mortals can understand)...

(a little background)
because Jesus was infilled with the Holy Spirit... the Spirit of God (the Father)
--that is why there is that term trinity (as ive seen from so many questions in here)

okay, going back to your question...

when Jesus was at the cross, Jesus bore all the sins of the world & at that
time became sin itself, so God the Father & the Holy Spirit was forced to forsake him...
(God cannot condone sin, thats why)

& when Jesus has realized that, that was when He cried out "God, why..."

making him as human as you and me (when we do not have the Holy Spirit)...
that's why he cried out to Lord.... for at very moment they weren't one...

Jesus was Forsaken for Our sake. Jesus who never sinned became sin and replaced our second death.

Jesus bore our sins atthe cross like a lamb who was sacrificed for sake of our sins.

And God cannot accept sin.

therefore God forsaked his only begotton son for our sake . John 3:16

Jesus had so much faith in GOD that all of a sudden he was crucified as an innocent man. He thought GOD would save him before the pain made his suffering worse. He then couldnt take the pain no more and cried to GOD those famous words. So GOD indeed heard his prayer and saved him.

sin separates us from god. jesus at that moment bore the worlds
sins to set us free from its sentence -he bore it for us. when that happened jesus experienced separation from god. but now he has being lifted up most high to an authority over all other authority. we can still pay the penality of sin in this life but god has made a way that at least we won't experience eternal death for it all well.

When Jesus was on the cross, he took on ALL the sins of the world. Being a holy God, his father could not look on sin, so he turned away from Jesus, because he became sin for you and me!

You have no idea how painful that was. He was in so much pain that he shouted out in pain. He knew why he was sent there. He wasn't expecting the amount of pain to be endured. Haven't you ever asked God why certain things have happened to you.

he carried the sins of the people in the world........he suffered for us......he was pained a lot.......and thus he said the statement

If GOD truly wanted you in heaven, he would have just created you there instead of here. God must have been a satanist. He made Jesus "HIS ONE TRUE SON" suffer and be tortured. Makes you think twice about the god you worship huh?

Although Jesus brought it upon himself. They told him not to preach and he did anyway... he could have stopped but he persisted. It was jesus's fault, a self righteous suicide.
