I think a lot of that depends on your body structure. And whether you are a male or female.

That sounds rather large for your height, But here's the thing, What's your fat index. What % of your body is fat?

Besides, If you like the way you are..who cares what some chart says.

well in my personal opinion the BMI index is a bit harsh as everyone carries their weight differently & hence can weigh more but still appear thinner, I myslef am 5'5.5" & weigh about 146lbs & accordingly to the BMI @ 5'5" Im overweight, BUT everyone tells me that Im thin even my Dr reffered to me as leaner. My Mom is 5'7" & at 180lbs she is quite plump but I in no way would classify her as obese.....so in answer to your question I dont think you obese but probably a bit overweight...not calling you fat just being honest....I still wear a size 10 & even w people tellin me Im thin would like to lose4 a couple lbs to maybe get back in to size 9 jeans

as someone previously mention, they are right, according to the Index most people are, but what it does not take in to accound is gained muscle weight, Muscle weight is heavier that fat weight. It says for me at 5'11" 195 that I am severly over weight, but I am not, I worked out hard for 1 1/2 yrs and gained alot of muscle weight...they are wrong

Hey! You There! I certainly would not call 190 lbs. obese!
You may feel and look better by losing some, but I don't consider 190 obese!

Smile and be HAPPY!

In whichever case, go exercise 3 times a week... simplest thing to do is brisk walking for 30 minutes. Also, eat in moderation. This should ensure your fitness.

The BMI rarely works in practice. Don't pay much attention to it. Go to a doctor, they can classify you more efectively. Seriously, BMI's are a load of ****.
