My preacher was arrested for driving naked in his car.

Judith R is RIGHT!!

As for the question. It would only interfere with MY willingness to learn something from the preacher IF he/she was sinning and NOT struggling against it. A preacher - first and foremost - is a PERSON. [Just like the rest of us] But AS a preacher - God expects more of them - for they ARE representing Him here on earth. But even God doesn't expect perfection.

That all said... it would certainly depend a lot on what the sin is - exactly. Craig!! :o)

Aren't we all sinners? We are all humans on this earth and I don't know anyone that hasn't made some mistakes in their life. I think that everyone is at a different level of spirituality at any given moment. Some people seem to have it together a little more than others and sometimes they don't. I think we need to look deep inside ourselves and determine whether or not the spiritual advisor in our lives at the moment is helping us on the journey or hindering us. Good luck!

I hope to learn righteousness through God.

Those who sin and who seek righteousness through salvation are better instructors than those who sin and do not seek salvation. For it is only one who is on the path who can point out where and how the path winds, and where the pitfalls are. One who has never walked the path and yet says, "Don't follow that person, because they have gotten lost on the path," is only telling me that they're not on the path but think it's bad to try at all since people sometimes get lost.

2 problems with the statment.....

1. Rigeousness and church, dont ever belong in the same sentence.
2. All preachers are sinners, dont state it like its new.

Some people's sole purpose in life is to serve as a good example of a bad example. The rest of us only do that once in awhile. :)

Seriously, though, none are blameless. Learn what you can from your preacher -- you've already learned enough to know that your preasher isn't the example you want -- and then look for other teachers and role models. And take the opportunity this presents to practice forgiveness and to express gratitude for the good that you've learned.

No one's NOT a sinner, your preacher's no exception...so what' your question again? Or is this a case of fickle church hopper focusing too much on the outside and not what's within? Just a rhethorical question, no offence.

Happy peanuts soar
Over chocolate covered mountains tops
and waterfalls of caramel
crunchy nuget in the meadows
singing songs of satisfaction to the world.

Preachers are like the peanuts. They continue in delusion by convincing the rest of the fantasy world that the peanuts are good. The fantasy world is satisfied with the waterfalls and nuget so they fill the meadows. It's sad really.

"It is far better to grasp the universe at it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring."

You cannot learn 'righteousness' in 'church' or from anyone other than yourself. Spirituality is a solitary path, people can give you pointers but you must teach yourself.
