... and hard to refute even up to now? Why people have so much faith in things like myths and tales? If you need to say something doesn't exist, it is impossible, it can be anywhere in this universe and could have happened already unless you have a time machine.

It is impossible to prove something does not exist.

That is the primary reason charlatans (rabbis, preachers, priests, imams, holy men, et al) can get away with their ridiculous claims concerning Gods and other supernatural phenomena that don't exist.

People are just as gullible today as they have always been.

Your absolutely right. Being agnostic I hate to say this, but if you think about it, we know almost nothing about the Universe. If you find validity in the laws of statistics then any and all things are possible somewhere and at some time in the Universe or some other Universe, which would mean that any idea or book that was ever written could have happened or will happen at some point in time and or in some place in the great beyond. Any comic book, and horror novel, any sci-fi movie and yes of course even the stories from the Bible. Kind of crazy if you think about it.

This is a stupid question it is easier to say something doesnt exist. can you prove that there is a God. I cant even prove there is a God and i have been a christian for 5 years. i think that your trying to ask why you cant make a believer not believe. and thats because a believer has faith and faith alone. if its harder to prove that something does not exist, then i chalenge anyone to prove to me that something does exist, anything at all. you can try to prove that a tree exists and i can say that the tree only exists as electrical impuleses in your brain when you see, touch, smell, the tree.

Lack of evidence is not evidence of lack. Also, observable data is often the least reliable.
