One morning I woke up with my knee hurting and I had never had knee problems whatsoever. It was slightly swollen, so I tried to doctor it myself with ice. Didn't help, so I tried heat, wrapping, ibuprofen, and nothing helped. Finally after about a year, I went to the Doc. He took an x-ray and claimed that I have arthritis worse than most 60 year olds (I'm almost 40). In fact, as soon as I lose a little weight, he wants to do a partial replacement.

I hope that you do not have it. Since they took celebrex and bextra off of the market, nothing helps. I just hobble along from the pain, like I'm old!

There a many things that could be wrong and many of those are minor and curable. I pray that it is one of those, but you really should have it checked out, just to be safe.

You could have something called "house maids knee". Sounds silly i know, but it is basically fluid built up in the knee which causes swelling and plenty of pain! I have this problem myself!

You could have bruised the cart ledge. It can just cause a little bit of pain and swelling but can get worse over time. Get an MRI if you can. And see a good Orthologist.

It must be filled with water which causes an infection on the knee cap, you should go to the doctor and have him remove the liquid with an injection shot.

will need more details like ur age, any history of injury, associated fever etc. But one year is a good enough time for u to consult a orthopedic. dont neglect it, it could be something very simple or complicated! let the doc guess than urself!

Joint pain or stiffness of the joint may be caused by overexertion, injuries, arthritis, muscle pain, bursitis and other diseases. Depending on the cause of the joint pain, joints on both sides of the body and small or large joints may be affected. Some types of joint pains can be completely cured but for other types of joint pain (like pain caused by osteoarthritis), treatment will only reduce the pain.
