Where you talking about the Mountain Meadows Massacre near Ceder City on September 7, 1857. I've heard of this, and this is the infamous one. Unfortunately, every major religion has a bad point in it's past, and this one for the LDS. But, without getting to much into it. Mormon members felt threaten and did the wrong thing. Find out more at the below sites. please point out though that the people were not directed by the church leader or lower, it was the local leader that decided this bad actions. He was excommunicated from the church and tried in government court.

Do you wake up at night and wonder why the stars are there too?

We don't know why the massacre happened, and it was a little bit difficult to figure out what you were talking about. But there is an explanation of what happened, anyway.

The Salina, Utah Prisoners of War Massacre occurred in Salina, Utah which was the home of some 250 German prisoners of war who were being used as workers on the local harvest.

The incident happened on the night of July 8, 1945 a few months after the German total surrender. At the time of the incident the prisoners were waiting to be repatriated. Private Clarence V. Bertucci fired a machine gun from one of the guard towers into the tents that were being used to accommodate the prisoners. Nine prisoners of war were killed and 20 were injured. Afterwards, Bertucci expressed his hatred for Nazis and showed no remorse for the incident. He was later determined to be insane and confined to a mental institution.

It may have something to do with the fact Mormons had been run out of NY, Ohio, Illinois and Missouri. And, they were rightfully concerned they had been pursued to Utah.

People had been murdering Mormons, including the Smith brothers, for years.

But, who knows?
