Whenever my husband gets sick and has to take antibiotics he says it makes him feel drowsy and ache. Does this happen to anyone else?

It could just be the recovery process of the bug he caught! The medicine shouldn't be doing it. I would speak to a doctor about this to make sure he's not having a bad reaction to the medication.

When you take antibiotics, it takes a while to see their effect, so you might feel a little bit worst in first days. although you shouldn't forget that antibiotics just like any other medications do have some side effects which can be different for different antibiotics. so if the symptoms bothers a lot or gets worst day by day contact your doctor. if not it'll go away very soon.

The first couple of days of taking antibiotics seems to make a lot of people feel worse. The good news is that after that, most people feel much better. It's as though the first days of the med is "bringing out" the infection, so then it can be wiped out.

A lot of antibiotics make people feel sick (nauseated) . Haven't heard them make people feel drowsy or ache.
Maybe what ever is wrong with him is making him feel like that.

antibiotics kill the bacteria in the intestine. these are required to make B-complex vitamins in the body. always take B-complex in addition to antibiotic treatment. misuse of antibiotics can lead to serious complications, hence they should be taken only under medical supervision

They can. I take Levoquin and I feel terrible. Sick to my stomach, weird and funky, sweating, it's so hard to describe. Sometimes if you try taking it with food, it helps. Also be sure to watch out for signs that he is having an allergic reaction. Breathing problems and breaking out in a rash are the main ones. If that happens he probably needs to see a Dr asap. Good luck.

They may initially, but remember that their purpose is to rid the body of infection. If left untreated, infections get worse. Better to be a bit fluish feeling and not have infection than to live with infection that will only get worse.
