Someone already mentioned this above, but I want to reiterate... Get the facts on this poisonous drug. I know many, many people who have been torn down by it and it alone. You have a 67% chance of awful withdrawal. I have been on it for 12 years, and tried to go off it three times, and just now am I making any headway.

It is horrendous what can happen to you. PLEASE look at the site below and become familiar with the side effects and medical possibilities. It is shown to cause birth defects, also affecting men's sperm, and many of our members have ended up in the hospital from withdrawal. GlaxoSmith Kline, the makers of Paxil, have endured and lost many lawsuits over this drug. They also lied about addiction and side effects, and are also losing lawsuits in this avenue as well. Sweating and being tired are only the beginning - paxil represses REM sleep, causing severe insomnia, at which point docs start loading you up with sleeping pills. It can also cause mania, anxiety (yes, anxiety), dry mouth, and suicidal idealation. It can assist hallucinations, change the body's chemistry, and negatively affects the liver. Don't be scared - just get the facts.

Please, search out the facts.

It saved my life. I had tried several drugs before it. I have been taking it for 10 and a half years now. Unfortunately about a year ago it stopped working for my anxiety and my depression worsened. Apparently this type of drug is known to quit working out of nowhere sometimes. But this is remedied by replacing it with another SSRI.

I was a little tired from taking it, so I switched it to be taken at night rather than the morning. Most side effects go away after a couple weeks anyhow. So hang in there and give it about 6 weeks to see how well it works for you. They had to raise my dose to 70 mg before it worked for me. This is of regular paxil, not paxil cr. 70mg is a VERY high dose. Good luck with it, and keep on trying!

Paxil or Paroxetine hydrochloride is in a class of medications called SSRI's. This stands for selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. This drug produces several different side effects such as: somnolence(being tired) dizziness, insomnia, tremor, nervousness, anxiety, confusion, headache, agitation, dry mouth, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, sexual dysfunction, urinary frequency, decreased libido, rash, and yes sweating.
I would like to ask how long have you been taking this medication? I have taken this medication before and I had diarrhea, sweating and felt like I was tired a lot, as well. I had taken the medication about a week and talked with my doctor and finally I discontinued the medication. Several of the antidepressants have this effect such as sweating, feeling lethargic and feeling like your zoned out a lot. I have taken Lexapro, Paxil, Elavil, Pamelor, Remeron, Cymbalta. All of these medications had this same effect your describing. I tried Zoloft too, and it made me feel like I was zoned out. The antidepressants are different in the way they work. What works for me might not for for you. I might experience a side effect that you do not. I hope you're kind of getting an idea of what I am trying to explain to you.
My advice, get yourself a good psychiatrist. They are best at using psychotropic medications. They have a better knowledge of the way they break down within the body. Hey, keep trying until you find something that works. Talk with your doctor about the side effects you are experiencing and see if he will prescribe you something else. I am currently having this problem, as well. Good luck!

I did find myself very tired, and if I have to increase my dose, I find myself becoming tired again. I also had a low-grade headache for a couple of weeks (again, this will come back if I have to up my dose).

Paxil has helped me in a big way. Although my anxiety is still around, I can manage it. Within three weeks of discontinuing Paxil, my depression returns with a vengeance; I can honestly say the medication has saved my life.

I've taken paxil and I never had the sweat reaction but i did get tired a lot and it made me lethargic. And now because of it I have a panic disorder.

I've taken Paxil twice over the last several years when I was depressed. I had few, if any, side effects and it improved my mood, sleep and appetite. Fortunately I haven't needed it in over three years. I know alot of people do have problems with side effects and/or it not helping. You just have to work with your dr to find the right medication or treatment.

Are you taking it for depression only? and if you feel tired you must switch to another drug called Bupropion (amfebutamone) (brand names Wellbutrin and Zyban). Bupropion has a stimulating effect.

Or you can gradually increase the dose of paxil to 60mg and wait for a better response. It may take 3 moths for a complete resposne. Depression also causes fatigue and your current dose might not be enough. The drug Modafinil (Provigil or Modiodal) also works for fatigue and you can add it to the paxil.

Another drug called Fluoxetine (Prozac) is also slightly stimulating.

Sweating is a common side effect of antidepressants. Try to cope with it.

Don't forget to check your thyroids. Do a complete Thyroid profile tests and show the results to a doctor.

I'd advise you avoid paxil. Not only does it produce countless side effects, it's also proven to be linked to suicide in certain individuals. Once on Paxil, it becomes increasingly difficult to discontinue its use. There are other medications for any symptom which has caused you to be prescribed Paxil.

The initial side effects go away after about two to four weeks. I did okay on it for about a year, but then started having nightmares where I would wake up gasping for air and I had to stop it. All psych meds have bad side effects. I hope you are getting counseling so that you won't have to be on medication for long.
