I suppose if the Garden of Eden was in the tropics then maybe it would have been a banana. Since the Bible doesn't say, I'll go with the idea that it was a special kind of fruit that isn't even around today.

Doesn't really matter but I think it was most likely a lemon. Lemons interfere with the digestion of proteins and they are very different than other fruits. The important thing is that the fruit belonged to Jehovah and he forbid the eating of it. The couple chose to believe Satan and go against the one who created them and gave them all good things. How sad.

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

It was not a normal fruit like an apple or banana...it was the end of innocence.

Ah don't believe everything you read. There is no such thing as a "forbidden fruit". There Bible even says so. Somewhere in the new testament is a passage about some dude having a bad trip and seeing all kinds of food and its all good. Go ahead, christians, correct me if you dare.

Adam and Eve immediatly covered themselves with fig leaves when they became aware of their nakedness so maybe it was a fig tree.

Actually I have to say that, most likely, there is only one tree of knowledge and one tree of life. These trees probably didnt spread throughout the known world and wont be able to be found anywhere on earth.

It was most likely the Pomegranate, as apples are not native to the mid-east. The real sin, regardless of which fruit it was in particular, was the Transgression of God's Commandment to not eat it. Many scholars believe it was the Pomegranate because God used them as decoration in the Temple & the Priestly Robes.

It was the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. It looked very appealing but left a bitter taste in the mouth of those for whom it was not meant.
