Legally, no.
Morally, you probably should.

If I were you, I'll be grateful for the £500. However, your friend should have returned the favor to cheer you up by buying you 3 lottery tickets. If you won, you can give him 10% of your winnings but if not, well then at least you had your chance and you are not lucky as he was.

No, you wouldn't be obligated by law to share, but morally I would feel the need to. If it were a small amount, any of my friends wouldn't expect it, I know. If the amount were large, I would split it with them...after all, if they didn;t give me the ticket in the first place, I couldn't have won. and it's just good Karma to do the right thing. Even when winning a small amount, I would buy them several tickets to say thanks.

It depends on the amount of $ won... if it's a few hundreds maybe i will treat my friend out for lunch but if it is only less than $100 i think i will only buy him a drink. :D
You no need to give him $, beccause in the 1st place, he never said he wanted to share the lottery ticket with you.

If you didn't tell them it was a winner then no you aren't obligated to give them any money. Also it depends on the amount you won. If it was a large enough amount, I would split it with my friend, because it is a good thing to do.

You are not obligated, but it certainly would be a nice gesture. It really depends on how much money you are talking about. If it is under one hundred dollars, I say no. If it is over, I would personally give them a percentage out of gratitude.

Yes, if it wasn't for their generous act, you would have no money at all, I would rather split the money 50/50 and keep a good friendship.....I feel sorry for your friend that you feel it would be an obiligation to give them money....I would love to help my friends out if I won the lottery.

If your friend gave you the ticket they shouldn't have any expectations for anything in return. You give to give, not to get!!
But, if it were me, I would take them out to a nice dinner if it's over $100 or $1,000. If I won $20, I'd buy them a burrito!!

That depends on how much you win. For a few hundreds, a nice meal. A few thousands, a nice meal plus a nice gift. Hundred thousands, a car. Millions, a house.
