Good Question!!! For a long time there were prophets on the earth. Christ was born, and established the twelve apostles to reign in His stead and govern His newly founded church. However due to the unbelief of the people then, the 12 were killed, along with the Revelation that comes from them.
This event was for seen by Amos, years before this tragedy occurred. He wrote in Amos 8:11- ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.
Prophets were gone for a while, but thanks to the tender mercies of God we have one today that is like Amos of Old and like unto the 12.
For more feel free to email me, or search the scriptures on your own at lds.org. Good luck and God speed the right. Sincerely your fellow Christian, Amos at famousamoso@yahoo.com

Since God does not exist, it would be impossible for him (it?) to send a prophet.
Who was the first prophet?

Hello Teacher
I'm certain that you will be able to decern from this scripture who is the last Prophet.
The last prophecy given to man is the book of revelation.
Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
Read it and enjoy. Have a great day.

There will always be prophets that God will use to spread His message.
The most important was Jesus because He was more than a prophet.
