Me and my ex broke up a year and a half ago when I moved to college because he could not handle the long distance. We havve continued to stay friends and both still have strong emotions for each other. He just said we are both living seperate lives and it was too hard for him. He calls me about every two weeks and we see each other now and then. This has been going on for a year and a half now and I realized recently that it needs to stop because its holding me back from other relationships. He tells me he likes to talk to me, I still mean a lot to him....etc. So I decided that I wouldn't answer his calls and he kept on calling and calling. When I finally called him back after he called three days in a row!!.. he told me the same old thing..want to see how ur doing etc. IF thats all he wanted why did he call three days in a row? GUYS..would you do this? does it mean he really still likes me or

Well, yes I think he still really likes you but you have told him already what is what so he shouldn't be surprised if you are not there for him...but he still has hope in his heart.

He still likes you, & probably still wants to be with you, or can't deal with the idea of letting you go & not being able to call you... He's probably still used to the way the relationship was when you were together, as in you could call each other that many days in a row.... Maybe he wants you back? Do you mind that he calls you this much or would you prefer he didnt so you can move on with your life... If you do want it to stop, just call him & explain it's getting hard with so much contact, that you do really care about him & have feelings for him (if you do?) & because of that you can't just go pretending that it's find to talk as much... Just say you need a bit of a HE-TOX for a while, because all the contact is confusing you... Or something like that whatever you feel. Just be true to yourself, if you're finding it hard then cut him off for a bit, but if you don't mind, then I think he may still like you.. I think he either doesn't want to let you go, or he wants to be with you.

He has not moved on yet. You know the answer but you keep on taking this merry-go-round relationship. You will not be able to go on and get a different guy if you have your x hanging around. I don't want to lecture, but you should be keeping these relationships loose. Concentrate on graduating. date guys as release from school work or take over your x and tell him how it is going to be.
So the short answer is that your x still has it for you, but I would bet he is afraid of serious commitment.
if you want to find out for sure... just say that you are dating someone new and you don't know if it will work out because he is so different from what you are used too, but he is a nice guy... be vague but positive when describing Mr imaginary... say your are going to talk to him about "taking it to the next level" ..this should give you more about how he feels about you if he thinks he is being put aside.
sure it is a head-game, but he is gaming you by not letting you go.
