My doctor told me in my last trimester that I could have a glass of wine for my anniversary and a glass of champagne for my mothers wedding. I am becoming a foster parent and we started to talk about FAS an dit scared me.My son is now a heathy 11 mounth old boy but could he have future problems I don't know about. I should not have listened to my doctor but I was stupid kid who thought doctors know everything. Please don't be mean I feel guilty already. I am really not a bad person or mother.

I had half of a Mikes Hard Something or Other in the very beginning of my pregnancy before I even knew I was pregnant and my son turned out wonderfully. He's 14 and a half months old and he's developing perfectly. He WAS born at 30 weeks instead of 40 weeks, but that wasn't his fault. Since he's doing everything a 14 month old should, he's actually ahead of the game since he's allowed to be behind a month or so considering he was early.

Anyway, don't stress. It's more dangerous to drink in the early stages of pregnancy anyway... if you had 2 sips in the 3rd, don't worry about it. Everything will be fine.

Don't worry about those two drinks in your third trimester. More than likely, if there was going to be FAS, it would have shown right away. Since your son is 11 months old, it sounds like those drinks didn't make a difference. The worst time to drink is your first trimester because so many vital organs are being made during that time. My cousin's doctor told her to drink a glass of wine when she was having contractions (her contractions started coming in the second trimester.) If you are concerned you can always bring this up on the next visit to the doctor, but honestly, I think everything is fine and you have nothing to worry about. I'm 9 weeks pregnant and I think everyone has done something that they weren't sure was right for their baby (I accidently took some NyQuil early on and also took Monistat before I asked my doctor if it was ok. I felt like a horrible mom, but my doctor said there was nothing to worry about. Think of all the mothers back in the day who had no other choice of drink but wine and beer, two drinks most likely had no effect on your sweet baby. I hope this helps.

well. your baby should be fine. that is, if you only had two drinks. the important thing is that you first, had other things to eat (imost likely) and that you did not get drunk.

a glass of wine (champaine is actually sparkling wine anway) is actually good for you in strong moderation.

trust your doctor! he knows a hell of a lot more than you or anyone else that is on the web and has enough time to do yahoo answers!

you should not feel guitly. 1. even if somehow this did harm him, you didn;t know better. 2. you obviously love him, and unfortunaltly many mothers do ot love their children. love is something many men would trade for their good health.

but seriously. i hope your baby is heathly and happy :-)

well, mostly happy (haha cuse it's a small hole to fit through.)

What is important is not to blame yourself now. Remember also that if you son were to have some learning problems or developmental problems later it does not mean it was caused by the two drinks you had- I believe you should stop stressing over it and rejoice over your healthy child. Most children that have FAS will be displaying problems at 11 months. Rest easy and enjoy your child.

You know, I wouldnt worry. I had about 4 drinks REALLY early in my pregnancy, before I knew I was pregnant. My doc said it wasnt enough to hurt my baby. I think you would have to drink frequently or get totally plastered for it to affect your baby. If hes fine now, I wouldnt worry. It wasnt even enough to get you drunk, the ammount that actually reached your baby was probably TINY. Just keep up the good work!

By the way, my daughter was born normal and is a wonderfully healthy and happy 18 month old now. No problems.

You have nothing to worry about. Two drinks do no cause FAS. You would have had to be drinking very heavily through out you pregnancy. You son will be fine. I had a glass of wine too while pregnant, and my daughter is fine, she is reading at a 4th grade level and she just started 1st grade.

I dont think 2 drinks are enough to do anything. It sounds like you had them on different occasions and not together anyway and if you didnt then dont worry. If you genuinely had a drinking problem then it could of been worse, but life is for living and common sense should prevail and you sound quite sensible. Dont forget, as parents we cant take the blame for everything our kids do and we cant always take the credit either - just be happy and enjoy your kids while you have them in your care

you are over reacting ,2 drinks wont hurt ,he is healthy isn't he.FAS is about drinking large amounts of alcohol all the way through pregnancy and although I think its best not to drink ,you did nothing wrong.I had two drinks before I found out I was pregnant with my 5 baby and I lost that baby at 20 weeks so I blamed the drinking and myself ,but was told very clearly that the baby would not have survived no matter what and it wasn't my fault, so I know how you feel but please stop it ,you have nothing to worry about,

IMO no alcohol is save during a pregnancy grant it one drink probably wouldn’t give your baby FAS, the key word being probably. But it could end up with FAE, Fetal Alcohol Exposure, or even FASD – Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. Who honestly would want to take the risk?

I would COMPLETELY avoid alcohol while pregnant. Anything that enters your blood is also given to the baby....and if a baby is developing, ANY alcohol can have an effect, whether it shows up sooner or later in development. Just wait, you're almost done!
