This is an interesting question and it requires some honest reflection about human nature. You see, the world, and the people who live in it are full of B.S. They behave differently in public than they behave when hiding behind a computer screen. The reason they do this is either because they need to be accepted and liked(thus they behave "properly" when in public) or, they recognize that it will make their lives a lot easier if they don't behave in a politically incorrect way. (a survival tactic) Either way they conform to the behavior that society says is proper when they go about their everyday lives, but when the curtian comes down they show their true colors. Most people are this way, regardless or gender or race. Just remember, people are full of BS. They spend a lot of time keeping up appearances when in public. The "true" side to people comes out on the computer my friend

You've got a point, and I think it stems from what you're taught growing up. Like it or not we as human beings tend to stick with what's familiar even if it's uncomfortable. Anything new or designed to make you think can be very frightening to some people. That's where I think the proverbial "they" comes from...and when it becomes uncomfortable it is readily used. It's a way to sterotype without the guilt.

it's not just people here, it is people in general, because we can all be opinionated, arrogant, and narrow minded, we like to look at others through microscopes and at ourselves with our rose tinted lenses on (preaching at the mirror too) because we all do it , anyone who says they don't (or never has) pretty much is not taking a good look inward. By the way stereotypes exist for a reason, whether or not they reflect a true clear picture is another story.

I agree, most are trying to prove a point to other close minded individuals, while others make a joke. and yet some will answer real question with snide remarks. "Can't we all just get along?". Several times I've seen others demeaned just because they ask a question they feel is inappropriate or stupid. when, especially here, there's no such thing as a stupid questions. Stupid answers, now that's different.

I agree with your sentiment.
Some people stereotype and are genuinely prejudiced.
Others ask questions in such away as to get the "good seeds" to stand up and answer.
Some questions are thought provoking, and some are full of ignorance.
