My problem wild and wooly 4 month old kitten,Tipper, wishes to thank you all for the input and to inform you kind folks that his master (hah) has tried all those tricks and then some short of sticking a shot gun up his--- (I chuckled at that comment). His corgi buddy is a year old and they are true buddys. Got kitten to entertain pup. Imagine if you will: Pup sleeping on bed and Tipper comes running into bedroom leaps up in the air, clearing bed by at least 3 feet and landing on pup. which results in a wresling match then a chase-who is chasing who depends on who gets tagged. No, Tipper does NOT jump up on things to get away from dog. If anything dog should be the one trying to get away from him. Tips claws are clipped on a regular basis. This kitten is long in both body and legs. No nic-nacs sitting around just books and heavier items-they hit the floor nicely. At 6 a.m. all h--- breaks loose and I have to get up or get trampled-not happy camper at that hr. Thanks for your help anyway

All I can say is congratulations, it could be worse, like my german shepherd chasing my two escapee ferrets who seem to be playing soccer with an empty soda can. Thank goodness your pets don't do that at 3 am . . . . . Heck mine are doing this at noon and it drives me nuts, but i love them, so they get their way.

If you think getting up at 6AM is bad, wait until you have a real baby! You'll be waking up every few hours for months on end.

If you want to sleep and still keep your dog amused, buy him toys instead of a kitten!

Don't expect a nocturnal animal like a cat to behave a like a door stop so you'll be able to sleep in until noon.

If you can't handle the responsibility and time involved with owning a kitten and a young dog, at least find a loving home for it (or them).

When you're ready for another pet one day, do plenty of research on what type of pet you'd like so you'll know well in advance what to expect from it.

A good dog would be a poodle mix because they're low maintenance and are content to lay around the house rather than a terrier that bounces off the walls. Cats aren't famous for letting their owners sleep in so cross them off your "possible pets to own list".

My 2 cats wake me every day between 3AM - 4AM because they must enjoy watching the sun come up over the horizon... Cats are early risers and nothing will change that fact. I knew in advance what to expect so their early morning antics don't bother me in the least. By the way, my dog sleeps in until 7AM and that's only if he's really tired!
