I have an 11 month old dalmation I recently adopted who has had 5 different owners do to different reasons. She has a submissive urination problem and I was looking for ways to train her out of it. She mostly just pees around almost all other dogs (of all sizes) and occasionally small children.

My advice is to get in touch with a trainer.... not a Petsmart trainer but an actual experienced trainer who has dealt with abused and neglected dogs.
This is a problem that will take quite a while and a lot of work on your part to overcome. I don't know exactly what she has endured in her short life but it has done substantial damage and she needs loads of encouragement & praise from you . She also needs to learn that she is OK and safe and NOT going to be harmed.

Work with a qualified trainer and she will become the most loving and loyal friend you will ever have,,,, believe me on this.

I hope I helped and I commend you for rescuing her and trying to help her. I wish you only the best.

Take her close to as many dogs and kids as you can without getting too close at first. As soon as she starts acting nervous comfort her.Make her just sit and watch them for a minute or so but only from a distance.Keep doing this until you notice she's comfortable just seeing them.
then you gradually decrease the distance until they are face to face. This could take weeks depending on how often each day the dog is walked.Always offer comfort and lots of praise when she does'nt pee all over.
When anyone approaches tell them your dog is not up to being friendly just yet.Do not allow anyone to force themselves on your dog until it's completely comfortable with the situation.
When the dog is finally comfortable enough to meet and greet another dog make sure the ones you pick are friendly dogs.Make her sit while the dog or child approaches giving her lots of praise and comfort keeping her close to you.
If it's a child have the kid give your dog a treat.
Alot of trainers may tell you to force the dog repeatedly into situations the dog is uncomfortable in until it gets the idea that there's no need for fear.
I tried this and it's taken me a very long time doing it my way to correct that behavior. So much for the quick fix.

Watch the Dog Whisperer on National Geographic channel. He is da BOMB! Most of his philosophy tends towards exercising dogs and getting them OUT of the back yard or house. Much like humans. From there, you need his advice! LOL

HE SHOULD PAY ME FOR ALL THESE ENDORSEMENTS!!

By the way, did you do research on this breed before you adopted it? They can be biters, as they are very protective of whoever in the family they feel like protecting. Not the best breed for kids.

in the beginning, i think of by using fact of this human beings dislike Cesar Millan. I even have Cesar's entire first season and by no potential as quickly as did I see him ever ever ever pass that far. in reality, whilst Cesar does "positioned a canines down", he does so firmly, no longer with tension, he by no potential chases after a canines. He would walk a canines down, yet by no potential chases after them. And he does not tower over the undesirable ingredient and he by no potential stares promptly into its eyes - in reality, he recommends against that. So i think of your 3 hundred lb roommate has watched some too episodes and is a thoroughly un-experienced, un-reported Cesar wannabe. each and each canines is different with know to mouthing. extreme mouthing offenses choose a much less attackable hand. whether, that being mentioned, it feels like (to me from what you wrote) t hat you do no longer have confidence it relatively is extreme at this factor. I even have completed the "ow" and pulled my hand away with all 3 of my canines. yet I even have by no potential given them a toy afterwards. I provide up taking part in and then, after a couple of minutes, re-work together taking part in or petting or notwithstanding it substitute into that we've been doing formerly. They now do little or no - if any - biting with us whilst taking part in. And if biting happens - in any way shape or variety, we are saying "OW" loudly and supply up taking part in. i'm speaking weeks between blunders with all 3 of them now. remember - injury has been completed. it is going to subside a lot whilst the three hundred lb bully is out of the photograph, yet whilst/whilst it happens - do no longer say something to do the canines. No scolding ( which will merely make it extra stressful) and truthfully no reassurance. merely freshen up the mess. As in the meanwhile - ask your roommate to stay the hell away out of your canines - if he won't - i'd be better than chuffed to return pee on him ;)
