Just wondering.

Oh, to be honest, I don't ever care what the imaginary invisible man in the sky thinks. If he ends up being real and wants to send me to Hell for being an Atheist, that's fine. I care more about being a good person on Earth and doing what I think is right than caring about what some little book says.

First, why are you posting in "religion and spirituality" if you just want to know if it is right or wrong to get drunk.

And your question is "is it a SIN to get drunk". What do you care about sinning if you dont care about God?

If you want spiritual answers,
The Bible says :

1) Luke 21:34
"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.

1) 1 Corinthians 6:10
nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

2) Romans 13:13
Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.

3) Ephesians 5:18
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

4) 1 Samuel 1:14
and said to her, "How long will you keep on getting drunk? Get rid of your wine."

5) Proverbs 26:9
Like a thornbush in a drunkard's hand is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.

6) Ecclesiastes 10:17
Blessed are you, O land whose king is of noble birth and whose princes eat at a proper time— for strength and not for drunkenness.

If you want MY opinion :

1) Driving when you are drunk ends up in accidents

2) Being angry when you are drunk makes you do and say things you regret later

3) Being drunk when you are with someone you fancy might end up in sexual immorality or even worse, a pregnancy when both parties are not ready.. thus - abortion/unwanted child, etc

4) Being drunk just feels damn bad man, vomitting and hangover the next day? What in the world for???

5) Being drunk makes it easier for people to take advantage of you..in any way

6) Being drunk means you might be robbed or pickpocketed without knowing it

7) Being drunk means being smelly and unsteady and who likes that kinda guy/girl?

If that's the way you feel, why even bother asking the question?

Yes, it is a sin to get drunk but it is not a sin to drink.

P.S. - Are you sure you don't mind being thrown in hell? An eternity of torment without ceasing sounds pretty bad.

Jesus loves you!

Why care if something is a sin or not if you don't believe in the consequence or lack of consequence for it? Being good on earth is a waste of your time until you decide that you have a Spirit that has to be tended to first. Only then can goodness be given to anyone, including yourself.

Yes, it is considered a sin according to Scripture:

[1 Cor 5:11] But I now write to you not to associate with anyone named a brother, if he is immoral, greedy, an idolater, a slanderer, a drunkard, or a robber, not even to eat with such a person.

Also, being drunk is not an excuse for bad behavior, so that would compound the sin.

Definitely yes.
Millions of people may oppose my 'yes'.
This is why I need religion. Even billions people oppose my opinion, I would keep on saying yes. At least, I can convince myself about not drinking under all conditions.
But I do nothing against drunk people: no criticism. no hatred, no evil wishes...While I would be tremendously happy if they stop drinking. After all, why should they care about my opinion!

It's not the getting drunk that is the sin but what you do when you get drunk that is usually the sin.
Hell get drunk all you want, just pass out before you do anything stupid or crazy like Noah did.

If you ask is it a sin and say you don't believe there is no point to answer your question,so here is THE PLAN again

God's Gospel:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

No way- why should it be. God gave us the free will- LOL. By being athiest you are losing out on all the concession chistianity gives becuase its all the more fun to break a rule rather than having no rules at all

I don't think it's a sin to get drunk. Just as long as it's above 21 (which most of the time it isn't).

Well, the book also says to be honest, and be a good person. And being drunk is reprehensible in any religion, I hope.
