because foreign beer is 'aged' the lupus they use is much better quality. American beer are made with less quality ingredient and no ageing. In addition, American taste is 'not demanding' like in Europe. Here is more important the 'decor' than the taste.

I think you are wrong in your assumption. I'm an Englishman, and admitedly we have the best beer in the world, but american microbreweries make some astonishingly brilliant beers. They are pushing the boundaries on traditional brewing and creating some new, amazing styles of beer as well as excellent versions of long established european styles.

Now saying that, I assume you are talking about the Bud/Mill/Coors side of things. Those beers were designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator to act as an alcohol delivery system, and they succeeded. Also after prohibition, when most of the smaller american breweries had disappeared, they were able to corner the market, and have done ever since. Through aggressive advertising and promotion, they have a massive consumer base that is all but impossible for smaller breweries to match. The beer they make is actually very difficult to make, it is very hard to make a beer taste of so little!

Why is drinking bud like having sex in a canoe? because they are both fücking close to water!

And just to make a correction - Coopers is Australian!

Thats a pretty subjective question because we have many very reputable microbreweries around here. I think the answer to your question would be that the vast majority of us drink Budweiser or some other bland lager style. The insane popularity of lager can be attributed to Prohibiton and World War II.

America used to be a predominantley ale drinking country. Due to the the various circumstances regarding Prohibition, which destroyed the brewing industry and what I think was rationing related stuff from WWII, in a nutshell, the ale style never fully recovered and Anheuser Busch has since then and still rules, in terms of sales, the beer market in this country. Therefore, the demand for Bud or some other similar lousy lager is really high. Oh well... :(

PS-Prohibition was when alcohol consumption was made illegal in 193x ?....something...in the United States

the problem is that the big American beers are brewed for ultra economy. they want to pump out as much beer as they can, as fast as they can, for the cheapest price. this had led to changes in the way the beer is brewed, and the overall recipes they use.
a lot of foreign beers on the other hand, use a more traditional beer making approach. they use more malted barley and slower acting yeast which adds flavor and alcohol.

I know. American beer tastes like cow pi$$. That is because European beer is sophisticated beer while American beer caters mostly to the rednecks.

Pretty much all of it, forget Fosters though, the only reason that is promoed in America is because aussies hate it! The best beer by far would have to be Coopers Pale Ale, made and owed in South Australia

That's all based on opinion I'm sure some microbreweries might disagree. Also not that I am a fan off Budweiser but it is the Number one selling beer worldwide.

I don't know that it is better, just different. I have to admit being Australian, it's only natural I love my beer. There are some fantastic Aussie Beers, but there are some dreadful ones as well. Don't go near Cascade or Southwark - I put them in the same category as Budweiser!!

It isn't. The most popular beers in America are pretty bad, but if you pick up something made by your local brewer (fresh and made in small quanities) its on par if not better than beer made anywhere else.
