I couldn't find a financal section to type this. So I came hear.
I have just recently had two major surgeries. One was for the removal of a big cyst and Ovary. The other was for Cancer of the Uterus which required a full Hysterectomy. The Doctors told me not to worry about the cost because I had Insurance, but my insurance doesn't cover everything. Now I'm having difficulty getting my bills paid for. I went through every channel I could think of without declaring bankruptcy. I've gone through the hospital programs for aid and every other organization possible to find in my local area to help but, I don't meet their requirements for help. I don't have any colladeral. The bank I go to won't let me take a loan out for more than two years to make it possible for me to live. How can I find some real help without having to file for bankruptcy? I need as much advice as I can get. I am in the process of looking for a part time job on top of my full time job to try to help me.

Ask your bank for help. They may be able to work out a payment plan and even reduce the debt. Ask them about debt consolidation. Have you spoken to the head of the billing dept at the hospital?
The ins. system in the US stinks.

go to your doctor and tell him the facts. ask if a payment plan can be worked out. he'll probably agree if his choices are get the money over time or not get it all. and if you are filing bankruptcy, don't even try to restructure debts. just wipe the slate clean....keep your car or house or whatever you are making payments on that you need and dump the rest.

I know this may sound like bad advice, but considering how sick you are....if you cannot pay, and you have exhausted every aveneue to help you, then just do not pay and let it go. I do not think they can do a thing about it.
