Use the sea salt spray from dread head, sprayed at the roots. Also, you must roll them in your hands every day, each one separately, until they have a solid locked dread base. I gave them to my husband and some clients. They take a long time but if done properly can look great. Also, they have special shampoo and wax. Have Fun.
Check out the site below , lotsa great info....=o)

If you are African desent, growing dreads should be pretty easy. Otherwise its gonna take some work. your hair has to be long enough for one thing. Don't brush or comb your hair and it wil rat up at first then it will dread up. I have heard that not washing your hair for a very long time helps, but then you might smell. try taking a comb, and grabbing a section of hair. now instead of combing from your scalp to your ends, yo the opposire

Before you go there - lemme just share this. I had an ex boyfriend who i always thought i'd end up with, in the forever sense. He and i were apart for a few years and in that time he grew out some dreads. We finally managed to meet up again in person - and although they were beautiful from afar, I could not stand the smell of it his head up close. We always had this immediate attraction but those dreads just killed it for me. I could not get into kissing him with the earthy scalp, hair smell so close to my face. I am usually a very natural person - i don't shower every single day, and i go nearly a week between washing my hair, but this dread stuff is too much natural for me. I do still love the way they look on a woman and a man - but i could never be intimate with someone with dreads. Just sharin' my personal history. Do with it what you will.

MG, of all the decisions to come to...a look that is way past it's prime and connotated uncleanliness at it's height.

Don't do it. Do you know how dirty your hair will be? Washing dreads is impossible. After about 3 months you will think something nested and pooed in them,,please don't do it....

Wash your hair in bar soap to make it nappy, my brother did that. It was soft hair, and within a week to a month, it was very nappy and dry.

My nephew has dreads and they look great. He uses a water-pick to clean his scalp. Enjoy your new look!!
