My friend said both people had to be minors to be considered arranged.

I don't think they have to be minors so much as they two families have to agree on the pair being married, and figure out some sort of agreement to make it happen.

In certain countries parents arrange an engagement for their kids from a very young age...is that what you mean? An arranged marriage is when the bride and the groom don't really know each other...never even met each other or spent time with each other prior to their wedding....sometimes the wedding takes place when the girl is still underage...in certain parts of the world....under eighteen- passed 14 is already considered of age.

An arranged marriage is one where the parents or a marriage broker sets up the marriage. It is based on education, wealth, looks, etc. The couple may be young but usually the parents are looking for an educated spouse for their child so they are probably college grads.

The main thing is that someone other than the bride and groom (usually the parents) pick the groom and bride. But any specifics change among the groups that practice arranged marriage. There's more at wikipedia:

arranged marriage means you are be-throned before seeing your other half. usually, parents match it before or after you were born with other parents who wants connection to lasts a lifetime. i guess its good if both parties are from the same background and well known to each family.

unless you mean both parties involve arranged it themselves for some logical reason. like other limit themselves until they reach certain ages that if they are unable to locate their soul mates on their own accord, they will in turn marry each other. that is possibility.

some is for convenience, like if they both rich and they do not want to let the fortune go somewhere else, they will conclude their future by marrying each other to keep the wealth tucked in.

some is for royalty issue, some monarchy or kingdom arrange their children's future with another blue blood carrier to continue the flow of their royal blood line.

lol no. its when your parents, and the other persons parents decide the 2 of you will marry. sometimes there is an exchanging of a dowery. you dont have to be a kid for this to happen. some people are 18+ when this occurs. yes its an odd custom but there are 100000s of people who married, then met, then fell in love. just as there are the same # who met married and fell out of love or married, met, and didnt like each other. customs are customs.
